What is the Best Budget Acoustic Guitar?
How much should I pay for a decent acoustic guitar? Should I get a highly expensive one if I am just a beginner? Should I spend hundreds of dollars on an expensive one? Which is a good acoustic guitar? Should I go for $100 guitars if I am newbie?
If you are a beginner and you did not hold acoustic guitar in hand before, cheaper guitar is definitely fine. But, what if you are serious and want to be professional? Then you need something like Martin D-35. Martin makes great quality guitars costing thousands of dollars.
Are $100 acoustic guitars good? Of course they are not. What is the best inexpensive acoustic guitars? As compared to classical guitars, they cost less. But, they still make good sound.
What is an acoustic guitar made of? In general, it's made of maple, mahogany, spruce, or rose wood. You can also find it in ash or cypress. The most common material used by manufacturers is medium-density fiberboard (MDF).
There are many models to choose from. There is no doubt that price is a major factor to consider. But, don't limit yourself just to that. It's good to go with a basic model. There is an electronic tuner which will allow you to tune your guitar right at home. I'll explain in a second what this does.
Let's say you're playing your acoustic guitar for the first time and everything is fine. Then, all of a sudden, you realize that you're strumming too fast or you are going too low in pitch. You check your tuning device and it shows that you are holding the F# down too tightly. The tuning devices have ways to fix this. Most commonly, they will change the strings to a cheaper one such as an a5r or a 6r, or change the fretboard to a thinner one like a spruce top.
What is an electric guitar? It is a complex musical instrument but a lot of people think they can learn quickly enough. In fact, learning the basic skills take more time than learning acoustic guitars. They have their own system to play songs quickly without having to read music. That's why they are considered beginner's instruments.
Acoustic guitars usually have frets which correspond to the notes on the fretboard. This means when you are changing chords, you have to move your fingers from one fret to another much easier than when you play an electric guitar because the strings are closer to the fretboard. Your fingers will learn to move much faster and this will allow you to change chords a lot faster and easier in the beginning.
Acoustic guitars are usually made with a spruce top or a rosewood body. Spruce tops are light while rosewood bodies are thicker and have a distinct "grassy" sound. Typically, acoustic guitars are fretted with six strings. However, there are a few models where you can only play five-strings.
Is it important for me to purchase a good guitar for my budget? Indeed it is! If you have purchased an expensive guitar, you might feel that you don't need to buy a much lower quality instrument just to play less expensive music. That's why the most common models in guitars, the most expensive ones, are not the best budget guitar models.
If I am planning on recording my own music, does the budget guitar I purchase matter at all? Yes it does! There are two main considerations to keep in mind when choosing which acoustic guitar you will purchase for your recording sessions. The first is that you should get one with a locking bridge. The second is that you should always record using the neck of the guitar. This is because the neck of the acoustic guitar is often the most fragile part of a guitar and it needs to be protected from any damage during its use.
Now that I have those questions answered, what do you think? Are you still confused as to what the best choice is? How much better would your sound be if you had a guitar with great sound quality and low price? Would you be able to justify paying a much higher price tag for a better instrument? Let me know in the comments section below.
