Best Desktop Computer Monitors for Your Needs

Let's get real, there are hundreds of desktop computer monitors on the market. They offer different features and they have their pros and cons. Which monitor is best for desktop?

In this first part of a two-part series, we'll examine what is necessary for a gaming experience, as well as what specifications to look for in a good quality monitor. So let's get started. Gaming is the best experience on a PC, but having great graphics cards and processor speed doesn't guarantee you'll have a great gaming experience. The best graphics cards and processors don't necessarily make the best gaming PCs, which means there are other things to consider when looking for a new desktop PC.

Which monitor is best for work from home? Which is best for gaming? Which is best for presentations? Let's take a look at the roles each of these devices play in an office or home environment. Which one is best for your work? And which one is best suited to gaming?

The answer to the first question is pretty straightforward: better battery life. Gaming monitors often use the most advanced technology, so they need more power than a normal monitor. But they're also the most demanding on your computer's resources. To keep your best friend (me) happy, I recommend getting a gaming PC that has at least a quad-core processor and two gigabytes of RAM. Those extra cores will make your system run much faster and use more power, but it'll also allow the graphics card to give you a truly amazing display.

To make sure you get the right kind of performance, check out what's available out there. The best deals are still to be found on laptops and netbooks, but PCs are catching up. If you want to watch online TV or play games at home, go with the top-end models from companies like Asus, Samsung, and LG. They all feature some great features, high-quality built materials, and long life batteries. You may even be able to download Windows 10 for free on some models!

If you want to be really practical, check out what's on offer from companies like HP and Acer. Both have excellent lines of desktop PCs with plenty of storage, cooling fans, and ports. If you like portability, though, I'd recommend the HP pavilion, which is equally compact and beautiful. Acer's best product yet, though, is its own little Yoga-like convertible laptop.

On the other hand, if you're more interested in video game performance, then you should check out the Best Buys category on eBay or the Macworld expo. There you can find the latest and greatest computer graphics cards, a quad core processor, and the best liquid cooling systems around. One of my favorites, oddly enough, is the Macobbler Magic Button. This awesome little computer makes your keyboard completely redecorated, and acts as a USB keyboard. The buttons even light up when you press them!

For those who prefer working directly on their computers, I can only recommend the Macbook Pro. It's one of the most powerful desktops around, and I've found that compared to other Windows-based laptops, my performance is better. You can also download Open Office, a free suite of productivity applications that works great on this system. The Macbook Pro runs great on a quad core i5, and has a full sized keyboard with nice comfortable feel.

The coolest thing I have found at the MAC world expo is a table top computer that actually acts like a tablet PC. What is neat is that it doubles as a keyboard and mouse, so you can type away while watching your favorite TV show. There are several cool add-ons you can buy, but the coolest is the pen-based digital text input device that comes standard with the system. The best desktop computer monitors for me have always been those that contain digital text inputs, as this makes working on the computer as easy as typing out a document on a normal word processor.

The last piece of hardware I am going to discuss is USB ports. For some reason, people seem to think that a high spec computer is only useful if it also has super fast USB connections. Nothing could be further from the truth. You can get USB ports just about anywhere nowadays, so don't let people tell you different. The good news is that you can hook up a USB port to several other peripherals, such as a DVD burner, iPod, camcorder, record player, GPS, keyboard and mouse, to name a few. That's why I love having a laptop with all these capabilities; if I only had one tool that I could use all the time.

So that's my advice: If you're looking for the best LCD TV's or flat panel monitors, go with one of the new brands that are offering extremely good quality and excellent value. If you need a computer for work, the best choice might be an iBook or another brand of laptop. However, if you like playing video games, I strongly recommend getting an iPad instead, as there are so many cool apps available that iPad owners feel unbeatable. If you enjoy movies and playing music, the best idea might be to start subscribing to a subscription service, where you'll get excellent quality audio books at a low price.
